WHEEL Committee Meetings are open to all VC CoLAB members interested in participating in robust discussions of local policy issues. “WHEEL” is an acronym for Water, Housing, Energy, Environment and Land Use. The WHEEL Committee meetings provide our members with an opportunity to learn about timely, relevant topics from leaders in their respective fields and collaborate to seek out solutions.
The WHEEL Committee generally meets on the third Wednesday of every month. Meetings are currently being offered in a HYBRID format- both on ZOOM and in person (Jensen Design & Survey, 1672 Donlon St., Ventura). The meetings are always free to attend.
For more information on our WHEEL Committee, how you can get involved, and how to become our guest speaker or next meeting sponsor, please contact Denelle Rutherford at drutherford@colabvc.org.
Next WHEEL Meeting
DATE AND TIME:
March 15 – 12 p.m.
Guest Speaker:
Nick Cammarota, California Building Industry Association:
In late 2022, CalFIRE released updated Wildfire Hazard Severity Zone maps. These maps identify zones in the state that are most susceptible to wildfire. The proposed maps label over 340,000 acres of (mostly privately owned) land in Ventura County as being the highest fire hazard. The designation could have adverse impacts on the ability to obtain insurance, create new development requirements and even impact allowable land use in the County. Join us to learn about the maps and the impact to agriculture and properties in the unincorporated area of Ventura County.
