What We Do
Research, advocacy and follow-through.
VC CoLAB collaborates with partners, public agencies and decision makers to provide sensible solutions for complicated and excessive regulations.
Regulatory advocacy
We identify and research issues that impact businesses, work with regulatory agencies, write comment letters and testify at public meetings to represent our members and partners.

Research and expert analysis
We engage experts in science, economics, engineering and law to independently review the studies and staff reports behind county policy, and we give members the facts so they know how their business will be impacted.

Education and outreach
Through the VC CoLAB Foundation and Circle the Wagons seminars, we advance the use of data and science in regulatory matters and help members and residents understand the issues that shape Ventura County.

The WHEEL issue areas
WHEEL stands for Water, Housing, Energy, Environment, and Land Use — the five regulatory fronts CoLAB monitors every month. WHEEL meetings are held monthly to provide an open forum to discuss regulatory issues that impact our members and partners. WHEEL meetings are free, but you must be a VC CoLAB member to attend.
Water
Water supply, groundwater management and infrastructure.
Housing
Housing supply, farmworker housing and land-use policy.
Energy
Local energy production and county energy policy.
Environment
